C+B WeddingOn May 12th of 2012, I married my best friend, Bill. We wed in Irvine, at an outdoor venue on a perfect Spring afternoon, and celebrated late into the night. The theme of the wedding circulated around Dr. Seuss and his insightful art he created for both the young and old. I poured my heart and soul in the paper elements I designed, and I received lots of loving help from my family, friends, and my soon-to-be husband.
The enormous suite consisted of save the date cards, the main invite, as well as all of the day of elements like programs, menus, escort cards, and signage for the bars, specialty drinks, gift table, and guestbook (sketchbook) table. I made the favors: a pocket sketchbook with a rubber hand stamp illustration of Seussian-style creatures around a Seuss quote. Also included were wooden hex pencils with alternating Seuss quotes. Other fun projects included a cornhole board set, which my husband built and we painted with our chevron pattern and monogram. My sister, bridesmaids, and I painted the frames and candlesticks we had found at thrift stores. Family flying in helped make wreaths of yarn pom-poms, neighbors punched confetti for the asile, and my dad built and painted the trellis for our ceremony. Oh, and I also built my wedding website, christineplusbill.com. |
Photographer Matthew Morgan did an amazing job of documenting the day. See more pictures on his blog here. Coordinator Heather Balliet of Amorology Weddings, did wonders of bringing it all together, and she and her team ran the day smoothly. Heather's mother, Robin of Twigg Botanicals, created the beautiful floral arrangements. And Nataly of Great Dane Baking Company created the most beautiful (and delicious) cake I had ever seen or eaten.
I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding, day. I was able to put my personal touches on it, and everyone enjoyed pitching in and making it a true family celebration. The only problem was the night went by too quickly; I just wish I could have made it last forever.
